CLIENT: A2L Consulting
SCOPE: PowerPoint Presentation for Trial
Verano Land Group sued Fulbright & Jaworski LLP and Jane Macon, claiming, among other things, professional negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. Verano, a Nevada limited partnership, had retained Fulbright, a Texas LLC, as legal counsel for its real estate development project in San Antonio, Texas. Macon, a Texas resident, former San Antonio city attorney and partner at Fulbright, served as Verano's primary counsel.
The real estate was acquired based on its proximity to a yet-to-be-constructed branch campus of Texas A&M University. Verano (originally Triple L)'s managers solicited funds from investors based on the real estate's projected increase in value. Although the scope of the work was exclusively for a Texas land deal and the petitioners were domiciled in  Texas, Verano sued the petitioners in Nevada, alleging both general and specific personal jurisdiction.
This was a very complex case, and the PowerPoint presentation created for its opening argument was extensive. Several people were involved in its production. Following are some of my contributions.
This is an abbreviated slide deck. Some final figures were not available to me at the time of production.
